Free Pick Recap: Braves Moneyline Falls Short in 4–2 Loss to Twins

Our MoonPicks98 Free Pick for Monday, August 17, was the Atlanta Braves moneyline at -122 against the Minnesota Twins. The matchup offered several compelling reasons to back Atlanta, but a disastrous opening inning put the Braves in an immediate four-run hole they could not overcome.

Atlanta’s Offense Couldn’t Complete the Comeback

The Braves finally broke through in the fifth inning when Ronald Acuña Jr. delivered a two-run single, scoring Austin Riley and Drake Baldwin. That cut Minnesota’s lead to 4–2 and gave Atlanta an opportunity to get back into the game.

Those were the only runs the Braves produced.

Atlanta finished with seven hits but could not generate the extra-base power needed to erase the early deficit. The Braves also failed to capitalize on their limited late-game opportunities.

Minnesota’s bullpen delivered five scoreless innings after Ober departed. Travis Adams earned the win with two perfect innings and three strikeouts, while Yoendrys Gómez escaped a ninth-inning threat to record his 18th save. Minnesota’s four-run first inning ultimately held up for a 4–2 victory.
