Makhachev recorded seven takedowns and more than 12 minutes of control time, according to the official fight statistics reported by ESPN. Garry actually landed more significant strikes, but Makhachev repeatedly dictated where the fight took place and controlled critical portions of the five-round championship battle.

All three judges ultimately gave the fight to Makhachev.

Even bigger: the victory gave Makhachev his 17th consecutive UFC win, setting a new promotional record and moving him past Anderson Silva's legendary 16-fight winning streak.

At this point, the conversation isn't simply about whether Makhachev is the best fighter in the world. It's becoming a conversation about where he belongs among the greatest fighters in UFC history.

Dern successfully defended the UFC women's strawweight championship for the first time, earning scorecards of 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47 against Gillian Robertson.

Robertson entered the matchup riding a five-fight winning streak, making this a fascinating stylistic battle on paper. Dern, however, was able to mix striking, wrestling and grappling effectively enough to remain one step ahead.

The victory was important for more than simply retaining the belt.

Dern continues to demonstrate that she is becoming a more complete mixed martial artist. Fighters who were once able to structure their entire game plan around avoiding her submissions now have more problems to solve.

It took only 39 seconds.

Turner caught Fernandes and quickly finished the fight with strikes, announcing his return in spectacular fashion.

The performance also earned Turner a $100,000 Performance of the Night bonus.

When Turner is able to use his length and power effectively, he remains an extremely dangerous matchup at lightweight. A performance like this immediately makes his next fight one bettors will want to watch closely.

🥊 Esteban Ribovics Stops Edson Barboza

This fight produced one of the night's most significant changing-of-the-guard moments.

Esteban Ribovics stopped longtime UFC veteran Edson Barboza with strikes at 1:32 of the second round.

For Ribovics, it was a major victory over one of the most respected strikers in UFC history.

For Barboza, it marked the end of an era.

Following the loss, Barboza announced his retirement from competition. After years of highlight-reel kicks, brutal finishes and battles against elite competition, one of the UFC's most entertaining veterans walked away from the Octagon.

The main card wasn't the only place we saw impressive performances.

Among the preliminary-card winners were Chidi Njokuani, Charles Johnson, Donte Johnson, Tresean Gore, Lucas Fernando, Neil Magny and Jeremiah Wells.

Charles Johnson, Dustin Stoltzfus and Jeremiah Wells joined Turner in receiving $100,000 Performance of the Night bonuses, while several additional finishers received $25,000 bonuses.
