Houston checked several boxes before first pitch. We believed the Astros had the better overall pitching outlook, entered the game swinging the bats well, and had the stronger bullpen if the game stayed close late.

At -124, we also felt the betting market slightly undervalued Houston's chances.

Unfortunately, baseball rarely follows the script. The Astros couldn't capitalize when opportunities presented themselves, and the game slipped away.

❌ Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline (-138)

Milwaukee had the advantage on paper with the more complete roster, a reliable bullpen, and the ability to generate offense consistently against right-handed pitching.

This was another play where we believed the market price offered value.

Instead, the Brewers never established momentum and couldn't deliver in key situations.

❌ Cardinals vs. Yankees Under 8.5 Runs (-130)

Our handicap centered around quality starting pitching and the expectation that both teams would struggle to string together offense consistently.

We projected a lower-scoring game, but the offenses found more success than anticipated, pushing the game over the total.

Totals can often hinge on one big inning, and that's exactly what happened here.

❌ Dodgers vs. Cubs First Five Under 4 Runs (-125)

This was one of our favorite pitching matchups on the board.

By isolating the first five innings, we intentionally avoided bullpen variance and focused on two starters we expected to keep the game under control early.

Instead, early offense spoiled the wager before the bullpens even became a factor.

✅ Phoenix Mercury +1.5 (-130)

The lone bright spot on the card.

We liked Phoenix because of the matchup, recent form, and our projected line compared to where sportsbooks were dealing the game.

The Mercury competed throughout and rewarded bettors by covering the number, preventing the night from becoming a complete sweep.
